モン（Hmong／フモン）族は、中国南部から東南アジア（ベトナム、ラオス、タイ）の山岳地帯に暮らす少数民族です。ベトナム戦争後の政治的迫害により、現在はアメリカやオーストラリアなど世界各地にも大きなコミュニティを形成しており、独自の文化と強いアイデンティティを持っています。起源と歴史中国: モン族の歴史は数千年前の中国・黄河流域に遡ると言われています。歴史的な迫害を逃れて南下し、現在は貴州省や雲南省などに居住するミャオ族（苗族）の大きなグループの一部を構成しています。東南アジア: 19世紀末から20世紀にかけて山岳地帯へ移動し、ラオスやタイなどに定住しました。ディアスポラ（離散）: ベトナム戦争時、ラオス内戦において彼らはアメリカ軍に協力しました。終戦後に共産化されたラオスから難民として流出し、1970年代後半以降、アメリカのミネソタ州やカリフォルニア州などに多くの人々が移住しました。
