A poem from June 2001 (English)

Across a silent black space
to the stars
to land upon a dead, dreaming world.

Being the “first” men to Mars wore off

The first night on Mars

They had risked their lives to do a big thing!

The spoons moved in the double moonlight

Some wouldn’t talk about return trip

That city is dead
And has been dead
a good many thousand years

“Dead”

“chicken pox”

“Did you see anything alive?”
It’s not right and it’s not fair.

A mirror!

We’d given the Martians time to arrange their death robs,

Some other excuse for dying

The air
Enjoying the way it was made

On the empty sea lands

And somehow islands will never sound right to “us Earth Man”?

We’ll give them new names

somehow parks and bridges will never sound right to who?

They will give them new names

Will we never touch Mars?
“We won’t ruin Mars,”

“We Earth Men have a talent to ruining big, beautiful things.”

Object lessons to civilizations

“And the moon be still as bright.”

Racing twin moon
Double shadows

A timeless water

Where people had gone
The wind lived and over
What they had been

How they had built this city to last the ages though, and had they ever come to Earth?

Done similar silly things when silly things were done

The moons held and froze them

The last Martian poet

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,

Alone in the moonlight

It was a morning that might have been a Monday or a Tuesday or any day on Mars

Drifted with slow unconcern
a body, a gun

The sun was shining upon Mars

The last Martian with a gun
Walked down to the rocket

“If there’s a Martian around, I’m all for him.”

The rocket lay in the sun
Awakening from a dream

Martians stopped where Earth Man should have stopped a hundreds years ago

Atom bomb depots on Mars?
…art and religion and everything!

Mars is finished

Fighting for bases to have wars 76years later from 1950?

Earth Man ruins one planet
…still going on?

The earth people will give up trying? NASA? Are they coming in 2026?

What life was for?
A lost people
Knocking down religion
Animals just lives, doesn’t question life

Interpretation of
that miracle
…art!

One around the gun
The other around the silver book
That glittered in the sun

Singing of heat in the land
Off the rocks, off the Martian BLUE SKY

Now relaxmax knows…the Martian SKY is not BLUE in 2026

Why live?
“Tell me about your civilization here on Mars.”
