なんとも古めかしい、届いた文庫本の「ニホンゴ」！

One minute it was Ohio winter,
有名なニホンゴの書き出しを知らなかったrelaxmax
(英語でも「このopening line」って有名なの？「吾輩は猫である。」ぐらいに？^_^)
with doors closed, windows locked,
the panes blind with frost, icicles fringing every roof, children skiing on slopes, housewives lumbering like great black bears in the furs along the icy street.
一瞬前まで、オハイオの冬。
「ひとときはオハイオ州の冬！」
ドアは閉ざされ、窓には鍵がかけられ、窓ガラスは霜で覆い隠され、あらゆる屋根にはツララが縁取られている。子供たちはスロープでスキーをし、凍った通りを毛皮を着た主婦たちがのしのしと重そうに歩いている、まるで大きな黒熊みたいに。
“It is good to renew one’s wonder,” said philosopher.
“Space travel has again made children of us all.”
驚異！
「人の驚きと不思議を更新するのはよいことだ」
哲学者は言った。
「宇宙旅行は、もう一度、私たちの中の子どもを甦らせてくれた。」

Dead Martian sea
The town was empty
As if
People had run off
(…to where?
Coz there is nowhere to escape!)

The last rocket blasted off when it went back to Earth

A quiet look of loneliness

The lonely streets and the night were full of the sad music
